Ein Bokek (Israel) - "Dead Sea Marathon Israel". Running on the water at the lowest point on Earth. List of the events: 5 km (convenient route for those who are new to the running experience), 10 km (running along the new Dead Sea Promenade, in memory of Tomer and Giora Ron), "Veridis Half Marathon" (a fast and flat route out on the dike of the Dead Sea), "Dead Sea Marathon" (fast race around the shores of the southern Dead Sea up to 21 km on the dike), 50km Ultra Marathon (50km Israel Championship in co-operation with the Athletics Association). The highlight of the race is a run towards the sea on the border embankment of the Dead Sea Works that surrounds the southern part of the Dead Sea. Only once a year do the security forces permit use of the dikes for sporting purposes and this gives the runners the opportunity to discover breathtaking views that have so far been observed by employees of the Dead Sea factories or security personnel. The dike serves as the border area between the Israeli Dead Sea and the Jordanian Dead Sea and serves as a barrier without a fence between the two countries that maintain a common and peaceful daily routine. The route mostly takes place on a dense and flat graveled area and will be secured by the security forces and the Army. The race takes place with the assistance and support of the Israel Chemicals Company, the Dead Sea Drainage Authority and the Government of the Dead Sea Protection Company. In addition: Vacation Packages (special benefits for runners at a variety of Ein Bokek hotels), a Weekend full of fun activities (free kids race, sunset yoga, afterparty on Friday and a Saturday muscle relaxer run), Expo (an excellent fair with all the renowned sports and lifestyle brands), International event (a colourful event alongside hundreds of runners from around the world), Professionalism (for the AIMS and Athletic Association Standard Race; the length of the track is measured by a qualified surveyor). The Dead Sea Marathon has developed from foundations of the veteran Ein Gedi race (originally started in the name of two children who tragically died), which for more than 30 years hosted tens of thousands of runners and served as an anchor point in the annual amateur and professional racing calendar from all over the Country. A race that indulged in the magical and quiet landscape of the area. In continuation of the commemoration of this past event the 10 km will be held in memory of Tomer and Giora Ron, members of Kibbutz Ein Gedi. The Dead Sea Hotels Association, sponsor partners, offers attractive packages at reasonable prices in a variety of hotels at Ein Bokek, including one-night packages. Some of the hotels have medical centres specializing in healing tourism. Tamar Regional Council and Forum Productions invite runners to take part in an international marathon, which has established itself as a mandatory race on the Israeli racing calendar! Running around the Dead Sea, alongside ancient salt crystals and facing the magical and quiet desert scenery. www.deadsea.run

Hanokdim (Israel) - "Arad Masada Half Marathon". 20 hours of a desert experience, 20 hours of an amazing empowering event. It begins on Thursday, 27.6.2019 at sundown. We'll meet at Hanokdim village which is located in the valley between Arad and Masada, a desert oasis with palms, camels and Bedouin tents. We'll enjoy a desert dinner (extra charge), listen to a lecture on a trail running, together with tea and coffee just like in the desert, we'll gather around the campfire and sing together (prepare your vocal cords), and finally go to sleep on a mattress in a Bedouin encampment. The race includes 2 heats: a 21.1km half marathon, and an 11km route (named after Omer Rabinovich, a son of the city Arad who fell during Operation Cast Lead). The route will begin at “Mitspor masada” in Arad and pass on the road leading to Masada. We'll run in the desert darkness as the moon shines from above. Without electric poles, without passing cars, only desert tranquility, a connection to nature, to ourselves and to our personal challenge. On the other hand, running at night brings people closer together and it seems that competition is gone and everyone has one goal – to enjoy as much as possible on the way to the sunrise at Masada. The route to the finish line fills everyone with supreme energy. When the sun casts its first rays on the mountains of Moab, the runners will cross the finish line at the foot of Masada, and receive a glass of champagne. This is the time to savor an amazing and breathtaking view of the most beautiful sunrise in Israel, to feel the connection between music and nature at a dance party that will conclude this intoxicating race. www.aradmasadarun.co.il
