Verbier (Switzerland) - "Trail Verbier Saint-Bernard". Four different races for this event. All on mountainous terrains. "X-Alpine (111km / 8400m D+). The main Swiss Alps trail, this is a real challenge for experienced ultratrailers. The route joins the three valleys of the river Dranse, forming a symbolic link between these geographic regions. Two main uphills will harden the beginning, passing by the top of Catogne (2598m) with a breathtaking view, and by the Orny hut (2826m), by a glacier. La Fouly is roughly in the middle of the route and from there a new adventure starts, leading the runners by the famous Col du Grand St. Bernard, through several villages and pastures and also up the last 1200m ascent to La Chaux, called "the wall" by runners. "X-Traversée" (73 km / 4,900m D+) links the village of La Fouly and Verbier. The route pass by the awesome area of Panossière, you will enjoy the view on the Grand Combin (4314m) and cross the 190m long suspension bridge of Corbassière. "Verbier Marathon" (43km / 3500 m D+). The second edition of the marathon between Liddes and Verbier. A first big ascent up to Mille Hut where you will join the other routes. From here it is a long traverse going down to Brunet before crossing the Avouillons pass to reach the bottom of the Grand Combin, its glacier and the Panossière hut. Crossing the suspension bridge will be the hottest spot of this section. By the end of the race you will still have to face "the wall", the Lourtier-La Chaux uphill in order to be able to run down to Verbier. "Liddes-Verbier" (29km / 2500m D+), popular race. There will be no ranking, but you will have a number and you will receive your time. The goal is to keep this race as popular as possible and to encourage people to try the experience of trail running. To be a good walker is sufficient to take the challenge and be able to reach the finish line. The race will start 1 hour after the marathon in Liddes and finish in Verbier. It will join the other two races in Col de Mille, summit of the first ascent. From there it will go down to Lourtier and then a last climb up to "the wall". Then it will join Verbier, via Clambin. www.trailvsb.com

Grindelwald, Canton Bern (Switzerland) - "Eiger-Ultratrail". The notorious Eiger stands at 3970m above Grindelwald and has been enthralling visitors to the valley for decades, most notably since 1858 when local Mountain Guides Christian Almer and Peter Bohren together with their guest Charles Barrington, reached the summit for the first time. The Eiger began attracting a wealth of aspiring mountaineers from all over Europe wishing to tackle its steep north face - known as the "last problem of the Alps" in north face climbing terms. It was finally conquered in 1938 by Anderl Heckmair, Fritz Kasparek, Ludwig Vörg and Heinrich Harrer, in a battle waged over 4 days. The race routes take in the most breath-taking viewpoints this area has to offer, passing through Grosse Scheidegg, First, Faulhorn (2680m), Schynige Platte, Wengen, Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg, before tackling the awesome traverse along the base of the Eiger North Face itself. This Ultra Trail is a truly spectacular alpine experience for trail runners and all spectators. The E101, a race of 101km and 6700m height difference is a mighty challenge to even the most seasoned of trail runners. The E51 winds its wicked way to the Faulhorn at 2680m, where competitors are rewarded for their efforts with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks as the route continues on towards Schynige Platte. This route also has a Couples category for those wishing to test their strength - and friendship - as a team of 2. The E35 race delivers a great challenging route, while the E16 is suitable for all newcomers to trail running or as a fast tempo run for more ambitious runners. www.eigerultratrail.ch
