Hurstbourne Tarrant, England (United Kingdom) - "Hurstbourne 5". A challenging five mile race in the heart of the beautiful North Wessex Downs, starting in the village of Hurstbourne Tarrant and following part of the Test Way through woods and farmland. The course is completely off-road, taking in rural footpaths, woodland tracks and a couple of "undulations". The event has been held annually since 2009, attracting fun runners, club athletes and local villagers alike. The event is organised and run entirely by volunteers. Lamberhurst, England (United Kingdom) - "Bewl Water 10Km, Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50km Ultra Marathon". The 10k, half, marathon and 50km ultra for this series is held annually and takes place at the Bewl reservoir which is set within 1000 acres of the picturesque Kent and Sussex countryside based in Lamberhurst, Kent. All these trail routes follow the clockwise "round the reservoir route" at the Bewl Water Country Park which is the largest lake in South East England and they run through some lovely forested areas and open countryside trails overlooking the lake. The Bewl Water routes for all four course distances vary, these run-routes all start and finish on the lower dam wall of the Bewl reservoir. Bewl Water Ultra 50km / 31.25mile (8.30am start) – clockwise route is 2 x12.5 mile loops of Bewl followed by a final loop of 6.25miles (8.00hr time limit). Bewl Water Marathon 26.5 mile (9.00am start) – clockwise route is initially a 1 mile loop, then 2 x12.5mile loops of Bewl (7.15hrs time limit). Bewl Water Half Marathon 13.1 mile (9.30am start) – initially an anti-clockwise 0.6 mile loop, then 1 x 12.5 mile loop of Bewl (6hrs time limit). Bewl Water 10km (10.00am start) – this will be an out / back 3.1mile run-route, the turnaround point will be well marshalled (2.5hrs time limit). The distances have been measured using a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro-Solar watch and are as accurate as trail races can possibly be, the marathon as you will note is slightly longer, the trails dependant on the line you run will always vary slightly so please be aware that this is as accurate as possible for a trail running event. Naseby, England (United Kingdom) - "Shires and Spires - Clockwise Event". Shires and Spires is a five distance circular event with a mixture of trails and roads comprising 10K (road), Half Marathon, 3/4 Marathon (new for 2024) Marathon and Ultra Marathon (35 miles!). All distances start and finish at Naseby Village Hall which is a great central location close to the A14, M1 and M6 motorways. The routes takes in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside and for the Multi Terrain Marathon / Ultra Marathon the country houses of Holdenby, Althorp (home of the Spencer family and final resting place of Princess Diana), and Cottesbrooke. The Half Marathon, 3/4 Marathon and Marathon give a break from the usual road races at these distances and create a new challenge with the changing terrain. We have created a mini running festival with the chance to enjoy the excitement of race day regardless of the distance you are doing.
