Newington, Connecticut (United States of America) - "Valley of Hartford 5K Road Race". The annual Valley of Hartford 5K Road Race raises funds to support the Children's Dyslexia Centers of Connecticut. These centers offer one-on-one tutorial sessions to children valued at $5000/child and also offer teacher training programs valued at $10,000/tutor. The main campus is located in Waterbury with satellite offices in Bridgeport and Hartford. All proceeds are distributed to the Children's Dyslexia Centers of Connecticut. The 2024 race will be the 20th anniversary of our efforts. In 2023 this race generated just over $30,000 thanks to all the runners, donors, and sponsors and we hope to do better this year thanks to your generosity.Race timing: Trident RFID racing system, Payne's Corner Timing. Free T-Shirts for the first 200 registrants. All participants can hydrate and replenish for free from an assortment of baked pastries, fruits, gatorade, and water. Course: A two loop course that starts and ends in front of the Scottish Rite Building at 207 Deming Street. Race course is a full gamut of ups and downs with moderate hills on a scenic route with plenty of water stations and volunteers. Loop 1: Start on Deming in front of Scottish Rite Building. Turn left at southern entrance to Candlewyck. Turn Right at Cambridge. Right on Lexington - loop around grass island. Right back on Cambridge. Right on Culver. Right Deming. Right on Candlewyck to start Loop 2. Loop 2: Follow Candlewyck to right on Stage Coach. Right onto Little Brook. Right on Culver. Right on Deming. Left into Scottish Rite Parking Lot to Finish. An exciting, sprint distance race through scenic shoreline communities of Niantic and East Lyme, the Niantic Bay Triathlon is a great race for beginner or experienced triathletes. Swim a 1/2 mile in the calm of Niantic Bay without waves or strong currents. Bike an 11.4 mile loop through the charming community of East Lyme with picturesque views and long straightaways along rolling, shaded roads. Run 3.2 miles along the oceanfront lined with cheering spectators before a spectacular beach finish. Team Relay registration for 2 or 3 members is an option to enjoy the tri experience with the help of some friends. Wethersfield, Connecticut (United States of America) - "Old Wethersfield 5K And 10K". Run the single-loop 5K or double-loop 10K through historic, quaint streets with a finish in scenic Wethersfield Cove on an unpaved trail along the water. This end of summer running tradition also welcomes walkers in the 5K. Each race participant will earn a short sleeve technical shirt. Be inspired with the glorious start in front of the majestic Capitol and the iconic finish line under the Arch at the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. Both marathon and half marathon courses will venture into the welcoming neighborhoods of West Hartford, full of cheering race spectators, with a short pass through beautiful Elizabeth Park. Marathoners veer off from half marathon participants and head over the Founders Bridge. Then, 26.2 mile runners will travel along the East Hartford side of the river before hitting the rural and scenic town roads of South Windsor, where the course highlights its quintessential New England charm.
