Tigard, Oregon (United States of America) - "KCNA2 Epilepsy Awareness Day 5K Fun Run". Run, walk, or roll for our 3rd annual fun run to raise awareness for KCNA2 Epilepsy in beautiful Cook Park! For this year's event, we also have a goal of raising $10,000 to support current research of treatment options for two of the three main types of KCNA2 (gain-of-function and loss-of-function). Our scientific team at the University of Tübingen in Germany are ready to test the effectiveness of their treatments, but funding will run out at the end of this year. If we can raise $10,000 at this event, in combination with money our organization already has, we will be able to provide bridge funding for a year until their next funding cycle kicks in. Instead of allowing this essential research to sit idle for a year, you can help us get treatment to our KCNA2 families faster! What is KCNA2? KCNA2-related developmental and epileptic encephalopathy is a neurological disorder caused by a mutation on the KCNA2 potassium channel.
