Ebensburg, Pennsylvania (United States of America) - "Thank a Farmer Dash". Thank your local farmers by participating in the second annual Thank a Farmer Dash, 5k, 10k, and Family Fun Walk!!! November is a time for giving thanks for all of the things in our lives. The bountiful feast that we will all enjoy on Thanksgiving is the result of the hard work of farmers. Locally grown food looks and tastes better, is better for you, preserves genetic diversity, is safe, supports local families, builds a strong community, preserves open space, reduces taxes, and invests in our future! Unfortunately, despite all of these great benefits, small farms are disappearing at an alarming rate! It is up to us to change this! To support our small farmers in Cambria and Indiana counties, we've set up a fund at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. The purpose of the fund is to provide small grants to support business plan development that focuses on sustainable (profitable) farming models, including providing match funding for sustainable farming projects and the development of conservation best management practices. All proceeds from this race are deposited in this fund for future grant-making and support for our local small farmers. Join us for a great event while supporting a vital cause! Because of you, we have been able to award $6,000 in grants to local farmers to support the implementation of special projects that support their operations. Pre-registration by November 5th, 2024. $25 for 5K Family Fun Walk; $25 for 5k; $35 for 10k; $15 Kids Ages 3-12 years (all races); Kids under 3 are free but will not receive race medals or T-shirts.
