Farmersville, Texas (United States of America) - "Oktoberfest Trail Run Festival". The trail races are on the converted Chaparral Trail. The trail was used as the railroad right-of-way and now converted to a multi-use trail. The race begins at the historic Onion Shed, a restored building from the 1930s that was once used a loading dock for the onion industry. The first 2.5 miles of the route is paved and when that ends, expect a crushed-stone surface for trail running. The out-and-back route is flat and fast and is partially covered under a canopy of trees and beautiful country scenic views that feels remote and forested. www.ultraexpeditions.com/oktoberfesttrailrun

Bandera, Texas (United States of America) - "Cactus Rose Ultra & Trail Relay". Note - Cactus Rose is adding a new concept of aid station support. First off: No whiners, wimps, or wusses! This race was designed to test runners over rugged technical terrain. The old-school self-support style of putting out your own gear remains the same. But I'm adding a new twist... A few volunteers at each station to cook quesadillas or grilled cheese on demand. Also, a stocked ice chest with cold Coke & Ginger Ale to grab & go. Understand: this is not the usual full spread aid stations with tons of volunteers. But maybe better for its efficiency and lack of chaos. A merge of the old style & new. Plenty of water & ice, as usual, but also a bit of hot food & cold drinks. This is what it would look like if I had a buddy crewing for me. This was meant to be a tough race ...on purpose. But I also wanted to make it possible for those who fly in and cannot easily bring all the gear they need. Either way, the views are spectacular and picturesque, and the event is always epic. Cactus Rose 100mi has been added as a qualifying race for UTMB worth 5 points. www.tejastrails.com/#/cactus

They are also a safe nesting ground for the Kemp's Ridley sea turtle and a haven for over 380 bird species. Runners will start the race at our salty seaside bar serving as the start/finish area.
