We love vert and this night running event will supply 1800 feet of vert each loop that will challenge your running skills while giving you fast flowing downhill sections to let the wind blow through your hair and/or ears. You have 8 hours to complete as many loops as your legs allow. Your last loop must be finished at 5 am. Port Angeles, Washington (United States of America) - "North Olympic Discovery Marathon". The North Olympic Discovery Marathon, Marathon Walk, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon and 10K take place on a unique point to point course that incorporates the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and a five mile finishing stretch along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The 5K and Kids Marathon are an out-and-back along the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Frequent sightings of seals, eagles, and an array of shore birds are common from the trail. Iconic trestle bridges provide beautiful back drops. Salmon can be seen spawning at the Morse Creek crossing in the fall. The North Olympic Discovery Marathon is truly one of the most beautiful marathon venues anywhere. This rails to trails course is a wide, hard surface (99% paved) trail. The course is marked at every mile and water stations are located approximately every two miles. Cool June weather can be expected - average high is 65F, average low is 49F, average mean is 57F. The race is organized by the Port Angeles Marathon Association - a group of accomplished amateur athletes. North Bend, Washington (United States of America) - "Mount Teneriffe Vert Run". Mount Teneriffe lays just beyond the popular hiking area of Mount Si right above North Bend, Washington and is known for the Kamikaze Falls or now known as Mount Teneriffe Falls. Its summit sits at 4,585 feet and has been a training location for mountaineers for years. The Mount Teneriffe Vert Run will start in the City of North Bend at Torguson Park and gain access to the trails at the Little Si Trailhead. The out and back trail running course is an 18.5-mile roundtrip with 5,600 feet of vert through second and third growth forests of the Cascade Mountains Middle Fork River area and has amazing views from the summit. For the top mountain race runners, they should have a completely runnable course while others will find it to be a real challenge just to speed hike up the Mount Teneriffe Trail. No matter your speed, be assured that the view at the Mount Teneriffe summit is well worth it as you look over the Middle Fork towards, Mailbox Peak, The Pulpit and the surrounding Middle Fork River area.
