Tampa, Florida (United States of America) - "Navy Birthday Live Virtual 5k/10k". Join us on Saturday October 7th 2023 as we run in celebration of the birthday (10/13/1775) of the United States Navy. Races for the other branches of service are scheduled throughout 2023 in order of their birthday months (Army / Coast Guard / Air Force / Navy / USMC / Space Force). This is no ordinary virtual run. It's a unique "live virtual" running event, with thousands of runners who have already experienced and love our unique race format. Among other things, there is a scheduled race date and start time (Saturday October 7th, 2023 at 8am Eastern time USA), a virtual check in and start via text or Facebook live-stream on race day morning, timekeeping (runners will provide screenshots or pictures of their chosen method of time and distance keeping), a private and active Facebook group dedicated to our "live virtual" runners, and custom engraving for the back of the medal for age group winners. All participants will receive the custom 3 inch one of a kind Navy Birthday medal, with age group winners receiving the engraving for their medal back. If you cannot or do not wish participate on the scheduled race date of October 7th 2023 during the race window (8am to 11am Eastern time USA on race day), you can absolutely still register. Please select the "medal only" option. But, keep in mind, you won't be eligible for age group awards (engraving on your medal) or to be counted among the "official" times posted after race day. For this option, medals will ship 2-4 weeks before the race date. All registered runners should join our private Facebook Group for access to positive discussions and posts regarding our "live virtual" races, race day live-stream virtual check-in and virtual start (Please note, it is not necessary to join the Facebook group to participate because you can check in and submit your time on race day via text if you prefer.) As noted above, if you cannot or do not wish to participate on/at the scheduled race date/time during the race day window, you can absolutely still register using the "medal only" option. Pricing includes shipping as quoted by USPS, and the registration link is priced to include shipping costs within the Continental United States. Any runners outside the Continental United States may have an extra shipping charge, and will be contacted by the Race Director with the amount (if applicable). Timekeeping: Given the unique nature of each runner's situation, we will accept proof of completed 5k or 10k on race day via text (to be provided in pre-race emails). For example: Treadmill runners may text a picture of their treadmill console. Or, phone app users may screenshot their completed run on their phone app and text the picture. Or, runners using a watch may snap a pic of their watch-face and text it in. You may run in any way that is safe, legal, and ethical in your area.
