The Jungle Marathon is a brand new challenge in the world of extreme adventure racing, and set to become one of the toughest races. Competitors from around the globe will battle it out on tracks and trails through the Amazon Jungle of Brazil, covering almost 250 kilometers (approximately 160 miles), in 6 stages over 7 days. Runners will be required to carry their own food and gear for the duration of the race, surviving on a ration of 12 liters of water per day. At the end of each stage, they will share occupancy on pre-erected Amazon style camp sites with hammocks. The 1st Jungle Marathon will take place near Manaus, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil, between the 15th and 27th of September 2003. Due to the isolated location and the extreme conditions of this race, the number of available places is limited. Registration is being accepted on a first come first serve basis.
