Join the party and celebrate the 21st birthday of the Carlsbad 5000 on Sunday, April 9, 2006. Voted "Best Road Race Venue" by Runner's World magazine, the World's Fastest 5K is a nationally televised event with nine separate chip-timed age group races and a flat, fast seaside course through the Village of Carlsbad. Soak up some sun as you relax post-race in the beer garden or at the Health & Fitness Expo before watching the heart-pumping elite invitational race at high noon. Every participant receives an official T-shirt and goodie bag and the first 250 finishers in each individual run receive a "First 250" medal. Awards are presented three-deep in each age division and include a plaque and sponsor merchandise and prices. Team and group competitions are also available.
