The Valentine Fanconi Anemia 5K is a scenic run/walk starting at the Morrison Bridge on the esplanade alongside the Willamette River in the heart of downtown Portland. It continues past the geese if they're still in town, possibly a blue heron or two, the Riverplace shops and restaurants, kayakers and moored sailboats. Then down Moody St. and back, for not only the usual bananas, bagels and water, but also cinnamon rolls and coffee! All participants will receive a t-shirt. Top three male and female finishers will receive gift certificates to Foot Traffic. Other prizes will be given out randomly to lucky participants. No pets, bikes or rollerblades allowed. Strollers and child carrier backpacks welcome with no charge to baby or toddler. Walkers and runners share the same course. Cost: $30.00 per adult, $15.00 per child under 12 if registered by February 8th. Packet Pick Up February 9th at Foot Traffic, SW 2nd/Yamhill from 12-4. Event Day Fees: $35.00 per adult and $20.00 per child. Register on race day between 7:00-7:45 underneath the Morrison Bridge. Can pick up registration forms at any Foot Traffic or Portland Running Co. stores or Doernbecher Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Join us in an effort to fight Fanconi anemia, a life threatening genetic disease which leads to bone marrow failure and cancer in children and young adults. All proceeds from the Run/Walk go to much needed research of Fanconi anemia. Help make a difference in the lives of others and have a good time while you're doing it!
