The 26th ATHENS CLASSIC MARATHON, dedicated to the pacifist Grigoris Lambrakis, is an international, popular race, addressed to anyone – regardless age, gender, nationality or religion – who wishes to experience participation in the unique race held on the Olympic Original Marathon Course, starting from the City of Marathon and finishing in the Panathinaikon Stadium. In a time, when the human existence is threatened by actions and reactions caused the man himself, the Athens Classic Marathon promotes the diachronic values of Olympic ideals, expresses the need of the mankind for world peace, emblems the power of human mind and will, enhancing at the same time sports as an alternative way of living and thinking.
