What is it actually? A running event? A trip? A trail hiking race covered in several stages? A discovery of populations and villages? A expedition for the discovery of natural marvels? The Brazil Running Adventure Race is actually a mix of all these components giving it its exceptional character... The shortest race (60 km) will be divided in two stages and will consist in the crossing of the Maranhenses Lençois. This sandy route snakes between dunes and lagoons. The long race crosses two supernatural regions of the Brazilian Nordeste area, the Parnaiba delta (the largest Americas delta), its fantastic islands and the incredible Maranhenses Lençois desert composed by thousands of white dunes and soft water blue lagoons. The race will cross the preserved Santa Isabel and Canarian islands as well as the Caju island. A boat link between these islands and then a few 14 km up to 22 km walks will let you discover an Amazonian-like panorama. The ultra 70 km stage between the sea and the desert gateway will lead you from Tutoia, at the delta gateway, to Cabure, the pearl of beaches located at the beginning of the Lençois desert. The "ultraexplorunners" will cross, after a resting day, the Sheet desert (Lençois) in two 34 km and 26 km sections and will spend the night in a bivouac in the middle of one of the most beautiful deserts in the world.
