Date & Time: Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 8:00 AM. Location: Greenland Open Space, Greenland, CO. Directions: Greenland Open Space is located four miles south of Larkspur (10 miles south of Castle Rock) and six miles north of Monument (20 miles north of Colorado Springs). Take 1-25 to exit 167, travel west 1/4 mile and then south 1/2 mile to the Greenland trailhead. There is limited parking at this parking lot. Overflow parking is located just over the railroad tracks at the Spruce Mountain parking area. All participants will receive a race logo technical shirt with their registration. All 50K finishers will get a custom made finisher medal. Weather & Safety Information: We all know that weather in Colorado is day to day. The average low temperature on May 9th is 36 degrees and the average high is 63 degrees. At 7,000', be prepared for anything. There may be snow on the trail, there may be rain, it may be muddy, and it may be nice. We will just have to wait and see what shows up on race day. Greenland Open Space is a multi-use open space that can see a lot of foot, bike, and horse traffic. However, in April, this traffic is fairly light. Expect to see wildlife in the form of rabbits, prairie dogs, fox, coyote, birds, and possibly bear and mountain lion. Though this race is not considered high altitude for residents of Colorado, if you are traveling from elevations below 2,000', be prepared for some shortness of breath. The highpoint on the course is 7,400', about 1,000' higher than Colorado Springs and 2,000' higher than Denver.
