The 35th Annual Bayou City Classic 10K and 5K Fun Run will parade through the streets of downtown Houston on Saturday, March 10, 2012, beginning at 7:50 am for the 35th year! Be a part of the spectacle of art cars, walkers, joggers, wheelchairs, and centipedes, and costumed runners. Music and entertainment along the course make the certified 6.2 mile course fly by. The real party begins with more terrific live music and a hearty post-race party at Hermann Square. New for 2012 is the addition of a 5K Fun Run in order to encourage all runners and walkers regardless of age and ability to participate in the event. Proceeds from the Bayou City Classic 10K and 5K Fun Run benefit improvements in Houston Parks. This year’s race is proudly presented by Apache Corporation. The event is produced by the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA), the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and the City of Houston’s Mayor’s Office of Special Events. Other generous sponsors include Specialty Healthcare and Wellness, Whole Foods Markets, and a host of other fine businesses supporting fitness, fun, and our city parks.
