The Rotary Club of Bal Harbour and Bal Harbour Police Department are excited to announce that our 9th Annual 5K Race/Walk will be held on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. This event is a major fundraiser for the Chief Mark N. Overton and Chief Miguel “Mike” De La Rosa Scholarship Fund, which provides academic or police academy scholarships for those aspiring to a career in law enforcement or pursuing an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice or Public Administration. Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 3 pm to 6 pm at Bal Harbour Waterfront Park, 18 Bal Bay Drive, Bal Harbour, FL 33154. You may pick up a packet for a friend or family member there. It is strongly encouraged to attend packet pick-up to avoid long lines and large crowds on race day. All participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and giveaways from our sponsors. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers and the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group: 5 & under, 6-10, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & over. Through our comprehensive care model, Lakewood Center empowers adults living with serious mental illness to grow, thrive, and achieve greater independence. Every step you take brings us closer to a future where mental health is embraced, understood, and supported by all. Day of event schedule: 6:30 a.m. - Registration & Pre-Registration Opens, 8:00 a.m. - 5K Race Start. Tee shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered participants. Once a shirt is sold out you will see sold out. Shirts are not guaranteed on race day. Awards will be provided to the top 3 males and top 3 females and top 3 in the following age groups: 6 & under, 7-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+. Packet pickup and registration will take place on race day at race site from 6:45 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. Parking is plentiful next to the race start location at the Oviedo Mall. The race starts and ends at the same location. Race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib. FAQ: The 5K is 3.1 miles. The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time. Official results are posted for the top runners in each category. Race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on the race website. You cannot use your own race chip or tag; you will be provided with a custom chip. Only pre-registered runners that successfully complete the registration and payment processes are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines. Dogs are allowed. Strollers are allowed; please start in the latter part of the runners. You may bring your own water, but there will be a water station on the course and at the finish. There are no refunds and entries are non-transferable. The race is a rain or shine event. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. Umbrellas are not allowed due to safety concerns.
