The Escalante Canyons road races include a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 5K fun run, all set In the cowboy country of southern Utah. Small and highly challenging, the marathon and half marathon take place on a Scenic Byway through the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument at elevations of 5500-6500 feet. The marathon course starts in Boulder, Utah, and runs west to Escalante, with only slickrock canyons and high-country ranchlands in between. The half marathon covers the last half of the marathon course. The 5K runs downhill through a lovely canyon just outside Escalante, and all races end at Escalante City Park.
