McCaysville, Georgia (United States of America) - "Bigfoot Boogie 5K". Join the excitement of the Riverwalk Run Series—America’s only two-state 5K series! This unique series includes the Trout Trot 5K every spring, Walk the Line 5K a Christmas-in-July event every summer, and the Bigfoot Boogie 5K every fall, with a coveted challenge item awarded to participants who complete all three. Bigfoot Boogie 5K is the event that started it all. Though it’s now the final 5K in the Riverwalk Run Series, it remains the fan favorite. Held in early November, this twilight 5K sets the stage for cool fall vibes and maybe even a few Bigfoot sightings. Participants will enjoy a scenic 3.1-mile course—with one hill—that crosses the state line twice between McCaysville, GA, and Copperhill, TN. The route winds alongside the picturesque Toccoa River, through two charming downtowns, and is ideal for runners, walkers, strollers, and even four-legged friends. The course features stunning views of fall foliage along the Toccoa River, with participants encouraged to embrace the fun or just soak in the mountain town atmosphere throughout Fannin County. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit McCaysville Business Association, supporting economic and cultural growth in the Copper Basin. Plus, all three Riverwalk Run Series 5Ks are official Peachtree Qualifiers for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. Event details: Saturday, November 08 at 5:30 PM at the McCaysville Visitor Center. Shirt and bib pickup will be Friday (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) at Burra Burra on the River and Saturday (2:30 PM - 5:15 PM) at the McCaysville Visitor Center. The course is 3.1 miles, all paved, with start and finish lines at different locations; timing is based on “gun to chip” per USATF Rule 245. Timeline: 3:30 PM race setup, 5:30 PM race start, 6:30 PM race cutoff, 6:45 PM awards ceremony near the finish line at McCaysville City Park. Awards include overall female and male, age group winners from 0-9, 10-19, 20-29 and so on up to 80+, and all finishers receive a medal. Make it a weekend with Riverwalk Shops and Blue Ridge dining, live music at Tooneys on Friday and Saturday nights, boutique shopping and local eats in McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN, and outdoor activities like rafting, hiking, fly fishing, and breweries. FAQs: free parking across from McCaysville City Park, race day registration available unless sold out, water available at the finish (please bring your own for on-course), and the event will proceed rain or shine. https://bigfootboogie5k.com
