The Homewood Flossmoor Community Running Club challenges all Chicagoland Clubs to compete in the 4th annual South-Southwest Suburban Club Challenge. Area clubs can form 3 person teams of all males, all females, or co-ed both for high school, open, and masters. ILLINOIS OLDEST TURKEY TROT!! 58th annual Thornton Turkey Trot. 9:00 AM 1 Mile Kids Run (8th grade and younger) & 1 Mile community walk, 9:30 AM Community 5k. Started in 1968, this race brings out the best runners in the south suburbs and has for over five for decades. Come cover the course that thousands of runners have conquered prior to their Thanksgiving festivities. There is a High School Team competition. The team competition only requires 3 athletes from a school to be awarded team points (boys & girls, no co-ed competition). Proceeds will benefit the Winged Foot Foundation. The 6th Annual Resolution Run takes place around the 6k loop of the Cook County Forest Preserve Vollmer Grove Trail and is a fantastic way to say goodbye 2026 and welcome 2027 with new goals! This running event races through the trails on New Year’s Day, at a reasonable 11am. We welcome families and participants of all ages to come run or crawl their way to completing their first resolution! Bring warm layers of clothes, tie up your running shoes, and get ready to “run into” 2027! Start Time: 11 am.
