Leenane, Galway (Ireland) - "Gaelforce West Adventure Race". Ireland's most iconic adventure race. A majestic route through a wildly beautiful landscape. This race will take you from stunning Inagh Valley, along the rugged foothills of the Maumturk Mountains, onto Killary Fjord, cycling through rugged Connemara, and finishing in the beautiful town of Westport. Whether you are a seasoned racer looking to beat the clock or new to the sport and looking to earn your finisher's medal, this event provides the ultimate challenge. Course total distance: 66km. Discipline: Run 22km, Cycle 43km, Kayak 1km. Terrain: Sealed roads, bog & grassland tracks, open mountains, and open water. All distances are approximate and the route may be subject to change. The start line is in the Inagh Valley in Connemara. Buses to the start line leave from Westport, depending on your wave and parking area. The finish line is at Westport. There is a water refill station halfway through the route. You will need to bring your own water bottle/container. We do not give out water bottles or cups during this event to protect the local environment. You will receive finisher's goodies (finishers medal and finishers clothing) at the finish line. Water bottle refilling stations are at the finish line, and freshly made soup & bread will also be available. Please note that this information may be subject to change.
