Union, Missouri (United States of America) - "Piggyback Dash 10K, 5K, 2K". All proceeds from the race will benefit the Lance Purschke Memorial Scholarship Fund. Join us for the 9th Annual Piggyback Dash and enjoy a beautiful, rolling course through the streets of Union with a challenging but rewarding finish at the top of Autumn Hill. The 10K and the 5K runners will start at the same time, with the 5K following a single-loop course. As the 5K runners make the last turn onto Autumn Hill Drive, the 10K runners will continue straight and run an additional 3 miles through Union. Aid stations will be provided along both the 5K and 10K routes, and post-race refreshments will also be available. The 10K and 5K (ish) are chip-timed events and medals will be awarded, while the 2K (1.2 mile) fun run/walk will not be officially timed and no medals will be given. As an added twist, once runners reach the bottom of Autumn Hill, they have the opportunity to carry someone piggyback up the hill to the finish line. This is completely voluntary and not required to finish. The person on your back does not have to be a registered participant, and runners who choose to carry someone piggyback up Autumn Hill will receive an extra piece of finisher swag. Throughout high school, Lance and his friends would run almost every day after dismissal, often using Autumn Hill for hill repeats. He loved the hill and the challenge it presented, never complaining, and instead encouraging others to rise to the challenge. In fact, he is the first person known to have carried someone piggyback up the hill, inspiring the race name, the Piggyback Dash. www.piggybackdash.com

La Veta, Colorado (United States of America) - "Wild Wahatoya Runs". Come join us to run through a magical part of history in the Cuchara Valley. The Spanish Peaks of Southern Colorado have been among the most important landmarks of the southwestern United States, guiding Native American tribes, Spanish and French trappers, gold seekers, hunters, and American settlers. The Ute, Comanche, Apache, and other, earlier Native American tribes held the peaks in religious awe and named the mountains Wahatoya, meaning “Breasts of the Earth.” Our event will be pairing with both the town of La Veta and Cuchara to help them celebrate their annual October Fest. We will have a 50K, heavy half marathon, and 8ish mile event. The 50K will start in the town of La Veta, wrap itself through the middle of the town, onto a rugged out-of-commission county road with sweeping views of the dikes, buttes, and mountains in the surrounding areas. You will end on newly reopened and maintained trails that guide you straight into town ending with a festival at the Cuchara Yacht Club. The heavy half and 8 mile will start on private property, take on the Dike trail and some other local favorites, to end back under the arch at the Yacht Club to join the party. We will be partnering with the local brewer to provide finish line beers, and other local businesses to provide five-star accommodations, live music from local talent, and great food. All course profiles and GPX files are released on the race website! www.trailtrashadventures.com/races/event-one-gzzml
