Orderville, Utah (United States of America) - "Ponderosa Polar Challenge". The Ponderosa Polar Challenge is a unique endurance event set against the stunning backdrop of the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort right outside of Zion National Park. Whether you are looking for a fun walk or run or an ultra-marathon challenge, this race is about movement, adventure, and community—not just speed. With distances ranging from 1 mile to 150 miles, you decide how far you want to go within a 52-hour time limit. Two different loops (1 mile and 4 miles) can be run in either direction until you reach the finish for your chosen distance. At the Ponderosa Polar Challenge, every step counts, whether you are chasing a new PR or simply soaking in the beauty of the trails. There is no pressure to be the fastest, only to enjoy the journey, and everyone is encouraged to be successful. Family and friends are welcome to join the weekend adventure, with the lodge offering activities such as a pool and hot tub, tennis courts, volleyball, and pickleball. All participants receive three nights of camping with registration. Those tackling 50K and longer distances will enjoy three all-you-can-eat race weekend meals and snacks provided at the start/finish aid station, including sandwiches, a taco bar, and hamburgers or hotdogs. Marathon or shorter-distance participants will receive Saturday breakfast and may opt in for additional meals, bring their own food, or use the on-site restaurant. Pacers, spectators, and support crews may purchase food or lodging upgrades through the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. The event is held in honor of Lois Krotz and Tom McCabe, two adventurers remembered for their love of the outdoors, friendships, and exploration. A portion of proceeds will support dog rescues in honor of Lois and trail maintenance groups in honor of Tom. Runners are encouraged to channel Tom’s adventurous energy—he was known to howl on the trails. The Ponderosa Polar Challenge offers distances from 1 mile to 150 miles, a generous 52-hour cutoff, full-weekend camping, optional cabins, meals for ultra runners, and the chance to support great causes. More than just a race, it is a weekend of camaraderie, movement, and memories. Join us for a winter running experience unlike any other—sign up, choose your distance, and let the adventure begin. https://howlingtrailsadventure.com
